Gladstone Coelho
Background
Gladstone has always been involved in sports and physical activities.
He holds a diploma in Physical Education and Recreational Activities for Elementary School in Brazil.
When he was 20, he joined the Brazilian Navy as a Former Athlete, competing and swimming professionally for 2 years.
Later, Gladstone worked at the Fire Fight Department, as a lifeguard at the Rio de Janeiro beaches. After 11 years, he changed career and became a Dental Laboratory Technologist.
Gladstone was introduced to Judo in his late 20`s and it was a passion at first sight. He trained and participated in several competitions throughout the Rio de Janeiro State. He obtained the black belt first degree, Shodan, in 1993, and the second degree, Nidan, in 1996.
Gladstone moved to Winnipeg in 2015 when he joined Mr Brian Jones’s Judo Club.
Currently, he goes to Nakamura Judo Club, training and assisting coaching since 2018, and earned his third degree, Sandan, in 2021.
When he is out of the dojo, he spends time with family and friends, cooking a delicious Brazilian barbecue.
